Towny Basics
Claiming plots, starting a town, inviting friends, and keeping your claims safe.

Building in the Wild
You do not need a town to build on HomeyCraft. The wilderness is open: chop, dig, and build anywhere outside the protected starter island, Hearthholm. The block log records everything, so griefing never sticks even in the wild. What the wild does not give you is a hard claim: anyone can technically modify unclaimed land, which is also what lets neighbors collaborate freely and lets the world heal after someone moves on. Towns are how you lock your land.
What a Town Gives You
A town claim protects every block inside it: only residents can build, chests are safe, and mobs do not spawn on claimed land. Towns also give you a shared spawn point (/town spawn), a bank, and neighbors.
Founding a Town
Stand where the town center should be and run /town new YourTownName. Founding costs 250 Acorns. The town then pays upkeep of 1 Acorn per claimed plot per day from its bank; a starter town of eight plots costs 8 Acorns a day, which one day of casual play or a single vote round more than covers. Fund the bank with /town deposit 100, and grow the town with /town claim while standing beside your existing land. Each plot is one chunk, 16 by 16 blocks, from bedrock to sky.
If the Bank Runs Dry
Nothing is deleted. The town goes into debt and freezes: no new claims until someone tops up the bank with /t deposit. Take your vacation; your town will be exactly where you left it.
When a Town Is Abandoned
We reward activity without punishing having a life. Any login keeps you active. If every resident of a town has been offline for 90 days, the town falls into ruins for three days, during which anyone (including a returning owner) can reclaim it for 500 Acorns; after that, the land returns to wilderness for the next builder. This keeps the map alive instead of a museum of locked, empty claims.
Joining Instead of Founding
Ask in chat or Discord which towns are welcoming residents. The mayor runs /town invite YourName, you run /accept, and you have a home street. Living in a town costs nothing unless the mayor sets local taxes, and most do not.
Everyday Town Commands
The commands you will actually use, day to day:
| Command | What It Does |
|---|---|
| /town | Shows your town's status screen: bank, residents, plots. |
| /town spawn | Teleports you to the town center. |
| /town deposit 100 | Pays into the town bank. |
| /plot claim | Claims the plot you stand on as your personal plot, if the mayor put it up for sale. |
| /town leave | Departs a town; your personal balance stays yours. |
| /towny map | Shows an in-chat map of claims around you. |
Being a Good Neighbor
Towns work because people are kind. Keep shared farms replanted, label your chests, and ask before building anything huge next to someone else's plot.
