Can PS5 and Xbox Play Minecraft Together?

Yes. PS5 and Xbox both run Bedrock Edition, so they crossplay natively without any special server or workaround. The two players sign in with Microsoft accounts, add each other as friends, and join the same world. Friends on Java Edition for PC can join too, but that requires a server running Geyser, such as HomeyCraft.

Both players need Minecraft and a signed-in Microsoft account. The Xbox player needs Game Pass Core or an equivalent subscription for online multiplayer. On the PS5 side, check your console's online requirements, since Minecraft has often been handled differently there. Crossplay itself needs no extra purchase.

1. Sign in to a Microsoft account in Minecraft on both consoles.

2. Add each other as friends using your Microsoft gamertags.

3. Open the Friends tab in the game and join the other player's world, or invite them to yours.

4. On a console, use the free BedrockConnect helper once (about five minutes to set up), then join from its server list; consoles cannot add server addresses directly.

Console editions only list Featured Servers, which is why the BedrockConnect step exists.

Both consoles must run current versions, or the join option may not appear. Party voice chat does not connect across console brands, so most mixed groups use Discord or in-game text chat.
