Can Switch and PlayStation Play Minecraft Together?

Yes. A Nintendo Switch player and a PlayStation player can play Minecraft together, because both consoles run Bedrock Edition. They can meet in a private world through the Microsoft friends list, or they can both join the same crossplay server, such as HomeyCraft, using the free BedrockConnect helper. No extra purchase is needed on either side.

The Switch player needs Minecraft, a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and a Microsoft account signed in within the game. The PlayStation player needs Minecraft and a Microsoft account signed in within the game. A PlayStation Plus subscription has not generally been required for Minecraft server play, but check your console, since Sony's policies are its own to set. Microsoft accounts are free and take a few minutes to create.

1. Open Minecraft on both consoles and sign in to a Microsoft account when prompted.

2. For a private world, add each other as friends in the game's Friends tab and join from there.

4. Restart Minecraft, open any Featured Server, and add bedrock.homeycraft.com with port 19132 from the BedrockConnect list.

5. Save the entry, and both players can rejoin the same world from that list any evening.

Neither console can add a custom server address natively, since Mojang limits consoles to Featured Servers. BedrockConnect is the standard workaround, and it only needs to be configured once. Keep both consoles updated, because Bedrock platforms must match versions to connect. Voice chat is not built in, so plan on Discord or a call. Nintendo and Sony each run their own online services, so if one player cannot see multiplayer options, the fix is usually in that console's account settings rather than in the game.

HomeyCraft is a cozy survival server with no PvP and no griefing, which makes it an easy meeting place for households split across consoles. Both players join through bedrock.homeycraft.com with port 19132 after the one-time BedrockConnect setup, and the whole process takes about five minutes the first night and seconds after that.
