Can Xbox and PC Play Minecraft Together?

Yes. Xbox and PC players can share a world, and this is one of the easiest pairings in Minecraft. The catch is what PC means. If the PC player owns Bedrock Edition for Windows, crossplay works natively through the Microsoft friends list. If the PC player owns Java Edition, the two can play together only on a server that runs Geyser, such as HomeyCraft.

The Xbox player needs Minecraft and an online multiplayer subscription, which is Game Pass Core or an equivalent plan. The PC player needs either Bedrock for Windows or Java Edition. Both sides need a Microsoft account, which the Xbox player already uses to sign in.

1. If both players are on Bedrock, add each other as friends through your Microsoft accounts, then join from the Friends tab.

2. If the PC player is on Java, choose a crossplay server for everyone to meet on.

3. On a console, use the free BedrockConnect helper once (about five minutes to set up), then join from its server list; consoles cannot add server addresses directly.

4. On PC, add the same server in the multiplayer menu and connect.

Console editions only list Featured Servers, which is why the BedrockConnect step exists.

Keep both platforms updated, since Bedrock versions must match closely to connect. Voice chat is not built in, so use an Xbox party or Discord. If multiplayer options are missing, review the account multiplayer settings. Java players should follow the server's account linking guide so their identity carries across editions.
