Can Phone and Console Play Minecraft Together?

Yes. A player on an iPhone or Android phone can share a Minecraft world with a player on Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch, because every one of those devices runs Bedrock Edition. A private world works through the Microsoft friends list. To meet on a crossplay server, such as HomeyCraft, the phone joins directly and the console uses the free BedrockConnect helper once.

The phone player needs Minecraft from the App Store or Google Play and a free Microsoft account signed in within the game, with no subscription required for external servers. The console player needs Minecraft, a Microsoft account, and that console's online membership where it applies: Nintendo Switch Online on Switch, an Xbox subscription such as Game Pass Core on Xbox, while PlayStation has not generally required a subscription for Minecraft server play (check your console).

1. Sign in to a Microsoft account in Minecraft on both devices.

2. For a private world, add each other as friends in the Friends tab and join the hosted world.

3. On the phone, joining a server is direct: open Play, choose the Servers tab, select Add Server, and enter bedrock.homeycraft.com with port 19132.

4. On the console, set up the free BedrockConnect helper once (about five minutes) by changing the DNS value in the console's network settings, since consoles cannot add server addresses directly. Our console joining guide walks through every screen.

5. Restart Minecraft on the console, open any Featured Server, and add bedrock.homeycraft.com with port 19132 from the BedrockConnect list. Both players now meet in the same world.

The asymmetry is the main surprise: phones have a native Add Server screen, while Mojang limits consoles to Featured Servers, which is why only the console needs BedrockConnect. The setup is one-time and free. Both devices must run matching Bedrock versions, so update each before playing. There is no built-in voice chat, so most pairs use a call, a console party, or Discord. If the console hides multiplayer options, review the Microsoft account's privacy and family settings.
